WE Transport is proud to be one of the corporate sponsors for the St. Vincent’s Medical Center 35th Annual Swim Across The Sound charity event which takes place on August 6th in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Each Summer, swimmers cross the Long Island Sound from Port Jefferson to Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport. The 2021 Swim Across The Sound event raised approximately $250,000 to support oncology programs and provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families so they can focus on their health and healing.
The Swim Marathon has seen upwards of 160 swimmers and 120 boaters participate in this one-day swimming event from Whitehall Beach in Port Jefferson, NY to Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, CT. The journey measures 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) and can take anywhere from 5.5 hours to over 10 hours to complete. It’s truly an amazing accomplishment for a wonderful cause!
As part of the Bridgeport Community, WE Transport often partners with local community groups for the improvement of the Bridgeport area. Additionally, several of WE Transport’s employees have been directly impacted by cancer and have benefitted from the care provided by funds raised by past Swim Across The Sound events. For these reasons, WE Transport was driven to become a corporate sponsor of this year’s event.
WE Transport would like to thank all of the swimmers for their annual participation in this wonderful event, which benefits so many individuals in our area. We truly appreciate the great work they are doing in the fight against cancer and would like to wish them all luck. and to stay safe, this year for their swim out on the Long Island Sound.
